The dignitaries interacted with 5 startups led/co-led by women entrepreneurs from ASHINE - SVNIT who represented and exhibited at the WEStart meet, namely: URISOL: Dr. Alka Mungray; DIGIEN: Mrs. Urvi Adhvaryu; CYCLING CITIES: Mrs. Nikita Lalwani; TREZIX: Mrs. Rupali Soni; DESIGN PLAY STORE: Mrs. Shivani Chakrachhatri. Out of the 5 selected startups, 3 startups got featured in the coffee table book.

Interaction of 5 Startups from ASHINE-TBI, SVNIT with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat: On March 7, 2021, the Education Department, Government of Gujarat, SSIP Cell and Gujarat Student Startup & Innovation Hub (i-Hub) initiated a flagship program titled WEStart to promote the women entrepreneurs of the state of Gujarat marking their persistent efforts in the world of start-ups.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Innovation Center (SVIC) under the support of Student Startup & Innovation Policy (SSIP) provides the students and start-ups the ultimate forum for promoting their business to investors and potential customers. Who, in turn, has a chance to discover and support innovative start-up talent.

e-Inauguration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Innovation Center by Hon’ble Minister of Education of Gujarat : On 11th November 2020, Hon’ble Minister of Education Shri. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama (Chief Guest) e-inaugurated the Sardar Vallabhbhai Innovation Center (SVIC) at 5.00 pm.

Recognition by Government of Gujarat as the first Nodal Institute of South Gujarat to disburse Seed Fund up to INR 40,00,000 per Startup: On 4th January 2021, Association for Harnessing Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ASHINE) at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) - Surat has been recognised as the 1st Nodal Institute (NI) of South Gujarat region under the Scheme for Assistance for Startups/Innovation, Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat. As a Nodal Institute (NI), ASHINE - SVNIT will now be able to provide seed-funding of up to INR 30 Lakh to startups and additional INR 10 Lakh for startups creating a social impact. Sustenance allowance of INR 20,000 per month to the startups and INR 25,000 per month to women led startups for a period of one year. Assistance up to INR 1 lakh per startup for obtaining training in soft skills on reimbursement basis. Assistance up to INR 3,00,000 to enroll and participate in national/international recognized acceleration programs.

Receiving the second tranche of INR 20,00,000 under Student Startup and Innovation Policy as Pre-seed Fund: On 30th March 2021, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat was granted a sum of INR 20,00,000 as a second installment under the Student Startup and Innovation Policy, Government of Gujarat to build the innovation and pre-incubation processes at the university-level. Under the Pre-incubation Program at ASHINE-SVNIT, these funds would be utilised to facilitate and pre-incubate innovative ideas at the Proof-of-Concept, Prototype, Product, Testing & Trial, Redesign & Development of utility.





30th April 2021

Creating a Bench-strength of 33 Startups under the Pre-incubation and Incubation Program : Till 30th April 2021, a total of 112 startups applications were received by ASHINE-TBI, SVNIT for incubation and allied support through the various funding programs. Out of 112, 33 startups were supported under the Pre-incubation and Incubation Program.

It acted as the first step towards creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem at SVNIT and eventually in South Gujarat. In the year 2020-21, 2000+ individuals have been sensitised through 15+ webinars/workshops, 20+ Proof-of-Concepts have been supported under Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) and 60+ alumni have displayed interest in supporting ASHINE-TBI to ensure opportunities are created for the next generation of startup enthusiasts.

Developing the Innovation Pipeline at Institute-level and increasing the outreach in South Gujarat: On 25th September 2020, the 3rd foundation day of ASHINE was celebrated virtually where 85+ SVNIT alumni/alumni entrepreneurs, faculty members and student startup enthusiasts participated from 9 pm to 10:30 pm.
